THE ORIGINS OF HINDU
MANTRAS
In recent times , the word ‘ Mantra
‘ is being used more and more in the west although more often then not , the reference is to ‘ affirmations ‘ .
The difference between
affirmations and mantras is that affirmations
( repetition of a phrase ) do not
have ‘ energy ‘ whilst mantras have energy .
Mantras are NOT prayers ; a prayer is
an emotional act, it is when you send your love to GOD - it is a
call that comes from the heart.
Mantras are a science
.
That is why
PEOPLE OF ALL RELIGIONS CAN USE THESE SANSKRIT MANTRAS you will find that they do not conflict with
any of your beliefs – By the constitutional nature of mantras, they are NOT dependent on any
rituals
A mantra is a , syllable, word or group of words that are considered capable of "creating
transformation ‘’ by working from the sound and its vibrations .
Mantras are energy based sound
signals that create vibrations that work on you and your surroundings .
Most mantras are associated with Hindu religion ( but are not religion based )
and are Sanskrit
words that have no literal translation into English or another language .
Sanskrit is an energy based language ( like Jewish Kabbalah ) ; this means that
when a word is uttered it creates vibrations .
You do not need to understand the words , just experience their effect
.
Mantras are the most effective instruments of thought .
( mana = mind ; tras = thought
)
These mantras did not just ‘ appear ‘ but were obtained after serious penance and
long meditation by various Hindu sages ; it is believed that during or after this meditation , these sages
were made ‘ aware ’ about these words – possibly from their sub-conscious mind ( also known as the cosmic
mind ) .
After obtaining these ‘ words ’ the
sages practiced by constantly uttering them and realized that each word when repeated continuously produced a
different effect on either their mind or body and that is when they realized that each syllable that they had
‘obtained’ had a sound that will create a different vibration
and thus a different physical change – like a distinct change in the pattern of their thoughts
.
These words and the reaction obtained were then recorded by these sages in
Sanskrit and eventually into history books like the Vedas and Puranas ( these are some of the oldest records
on earth ) .
These words were then used in combination to create phrases to see their effects
and thus the ‘ mantras ’ came into existence ; and most mantras follow this pattern . Although mantras are
often found in single line or phrases , there are many single word mantras – the most common one being
AUM .
In the composing of the mantras the sages of old knew that every letter had its
occult significance, and that the vowels contain formidable
potencies when properly chanted. The words of the mantra were made to convey a certain meaning by certain
secret rules involving the secret potency of their sound and the
vibration created by this sound .
In recent times thousands of books
have been written on the power of the human mind and it is widely accepted that what ever the state of your
mind that is what is manifested in your life .
The main aim of Mantras is to provide whatever the human being longs for by
altering the mind set so that you are ready to manifest
that in your life.
